STEM Picnic is a one-day cultural, entertainment and educational event for citizens intended to popularize STEM. The Rijeka Technical Culture Center organizes it in cooperation with numerous partners, and our goal (and desire) is for the STEM Picnic to become the first STEM tradition in Rijeka.

STEM, letter by letter, stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This one-day event aims to introduce young and old to some of the principles of natural sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics that invisibly affect our lives every day. Our STEM Picnic aims to introduce seemingly complicated areas that are presented to us throughout our education as demanding and often tiring to all age groups. Through fun and interesting demonstration workshops, the STEM Picnic breaks down prejudices towards these very areas, and also includes a number of other events: talks as part of popular science lectures, STEM Expo, performances, concerts and STEM competitions.

Every year, kindergartens and schools in Rijeka participate in the preparation of the STEM picnic, where they create their own works on one of the STEM themes through prize-winning art competitions. All works submitted to the competition are exhibited as part of the STEM picnic, and the best ones win valuable prizes.
