About the project
Growing inequalities and intolerance in the world require answers through education and empowering individuals to become active citizens. Global citizenship actively influences the prevention of violent radicalization and promotes democratic values, fundamental rights, intercultural understanding and active citizenship whereby social and civic skills are improved and increased, knowledge and learning as well as understanding are encouraged and, consequently, the sovereign rule of democratic values and basic civil rights.
On the other hand, digital storytelling as a short form of digital communication enables not only the exchange of everyday life of individuals, but also encourages understanding between people of different ethnic or religious backgrounds, beliefs or convictions, points out stereotypes, promotes intercultural dialogue and strengthens critical thinking, as well as computer and media literacy among children, young people, youth workers and education workers. So why present global citizenship through digital storytelling?!
This is what came to the mind to the partner consortium of BRIGHTS project, financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program. Within this two-year project, partners will empower youth workers to implement education about global citizenship through the methodology of digital storytelling, and create an online platform for connecting and a combined course (so-called Blended course that connects online and offline learning).
